Wimpy’s Conway Joins Chamber of Commerce Smart Card Promotion to Welcome Freshmen!!

SMART Card

Wimpy’s Conway is pleased to be a part of the Conway Chamber of Commerce Smart Card promotion. The SMART Card will be handed out at Central Baptist College, Hendrix College, University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton, & University of Central Arkansas! The SMART Card is a convenient way for college freshmen to get the latest updates on promotions and specials with local Conway and area businesses during the school year. Participating schools include Central Baptist College, Hendrix College, University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton and the University of Central Arkansas.

About the Chamber of Commerce Smart Card:

Local businesses have the opportunity to welcome more than 3,600 incoming freshmen to the Conway area by way of the collegiate SMART Card.

At the start of the 2012-2013 school year, the Conway Area Chamber of Commerce will distribute the promotional discount card to college freshmen on the campuses of Central Baptist College, Hendrix College, the University of Central Arkansas, and the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton.

The SMART Card comes in the form of a plastic wallet card and a plastic keychain tag that is color specific to each college. Card sponsors’ logos and the SMART Card website will be printed on the back of the wallet card. The website address and a quick-response, or QR, code will be printed on the back of the keychain tag. Users can scan the QR code with their smartphones, which will send them directly to the SMART Card website that lists the sponsors and participating businesses.

This is the second year the Chamber has issued the SMART Card to college freshmen. In previous years, first-year students received “welcome bags” filled with promotional items and fliers from local businesses. Whitney Farris, director of communications at the Chamber, said that the SMART Card is a modern, more environmentally friendly alternative to the “welcome bags” and was well received by last year’s college freshmen.

“The SMART Card is a greener concept that was a hit among technologically savvy college students,” Farris said. “Participating businesses told us that they received several phone calls and visits from freshmen looking to redeem their special offers.”

To learn more about sponsoring the SMART Card or about serving as a participating business on the SMART Card website, email Whitney Farris or call 501-932-5411.

Surprise Visit from Ryan Mallett

Jacksonville Jaguars v New England Patriots

I totally missed out on what might have been the coolest thing to happen in Conway this month! It all started this evening I was in my office working late when I started getting text messages from friends asking me if Ryan Mallett was really at our Wimpy’s Conway location. Of course I instinctively said no, why would he be, but then I thought to pull up Twitter and sure enough, I saw this tweet:

I immediately called the restaurant to see what the story was from the staff and they informed me that they really didn’t realize who he was until he had already left. They went on to tell me that he picked up the check for several people that showed up at the restaurant after he announced that he was there. Keep in mind we had no clue that he was coming, this came totally out of the blue…

We’ve posted some photos from his visit on our Facebook page, you can also find them thumbnailed below:

Congratulations to Tyler Stauch!

Tyler Stauch completed the Wimpy’s Burger Challenge this evening at our Conway location. Congratulations to Tyler on becoming our third winner at The Wimpy’s Burger Challenge. Tyler has challenged a friend to a head to head battle in two weeks, so let’s see if he can do it again!!!

Paleo / Primal Diet Menu Options?

The Paleo Diet

Recently we have had several people in Conway ask us recently to consider offering some lunch and dinner options that will fit into the Primal Diet. Having done a little research online this is what I have been able to find out about the primal (or Paleo Diet):

The modern dietary regimen known as the paleolithic diet (abbreviated paleo diet or paleodiet), also popularly referred to as the caveman diet, Stone Age diet and hunter-gatherer diet, is a nutritional plan based on the presumed ancient diet of wild plants and animals that various hominid species habitually consumed during the Paleolithic era—a period of about 2.5 million years duration that ended around 10,000 years ago with the development of agriculture. In common usage, such terms as the “Paleolithic diet” also refer to the actual ancestral human diet. Centered on commonly available modern foods, the “contemporary” Paleolithic diet consists mainly of fish, grass-fed pasture raised meats, vegetables, fruit, roots, and nuts, and excludes grains, legumes, dairy products, salt, refined sugar, and processed oils.

First popularized in the mid-1970s by gastroenterologist Walter L. Voegtlin, this nutritional concept has been promoted and adapted by a number of authors and researchers in several books and academic journals. A common theme in evolutionary medicine, Paleolithic nutrition is based on the premise that modern humans are genetically adapted to the diet of their Paleolithic ancestors and that human genetics have scarcely changed since the dawn of agriculture, and therefore that an ideal diet for human health and well-being is one that resembles this ancestral diet. Proponents of this diet argue that modern human populations subsisting on traditional diets allegedly similar to those of Paleolithic hunter-gatherers are largely free of diseases of affluence, and that two small prospective studies of the Paleolithic diet in humans have shown some positive health outcomes. Supporters point to several potentially therapeutic nutritional characteristics of allegedly preagricultural diets.

In all honesty, we are totally open to new things at Wimpy’s. However, not knowing a lot about this diet we are going to need your help, what menu options would you like to see us add? Since our beef is never frozen and comes fresh from the farm more or less, could our hamburger patties be wrapped in a lettuce wrap alongside your favorite condiments?

If you have some suggestions, please don’t hesitate to drop us a suggestion below…

Congratulations to Chris Owens!!

Congratulations to Chris Owens of Conway who completed the Wimpy’s Challenge in Record Time!!! At the beginning of the competition it was apparent to everyone in attendance that Chris had a plan. He immediately went to work on the 10″ 4lb burger, one pound of french fries, and a 24oz. milkshake with a vengeance.

Knowing that it takes somewhere between 20-3o minutes for the stomach to tell the brain that it’s full he tricked his own system by consuming everything in under 30 minutes. There are some videos embedded below of Chris’s awesome victory over the Wimpy’s Challenge:

Good burger joint by Taylor Johnson (3 reviews) August 21, 2011 – Likes it

Ordered the double Wimpy with grilled onions and pepper jack and was quite surprised how good it was. I wasn’t expecting a whole lot, however I would definitely eat here again; good burger and good atmosphere.

Love Love this place by dot-hairston, Memphis (1 review) June 21, 2011 – Likes it

I have visited Wimpy’s numbers of time since the openings and found every thing is awesome especially the BURGES and you can choose any thing you want to put on them.. No other place has fries like Wimpy’s. Crispy and Hot. Also the sweet potatoes are awesome with the sauce. The employee are very friendly and helpful if you need any thing. One thing for sure you and all your family are welcome because they have a choice of food for every one///. This place is not like DAVIDS there burger’s are suggy and the meat taste like it had been cooked for day’s / Fries are not hot.

Tried and True Fan!! by Jessica Harper (2 reviews) June 21, 2011 – Likes it

I have been a Wimpy’s fan since they first opened last year in Southaven, MS. Everything on the menu is good and fresh….I have tried just about everything that the restaurant has served. I know for a fact that the meat is NEVER EVER frozen and that the patties are made daily to ensure freshness. Wimpy’s is not “just another fast food place.” Plese tell me how this place can even be put in the same category with McDonald’s, Burger King, and (heaven forbid) Hardee’s! Wimpy’s takes pride in the fact that the food they serve is far and above that of any competitor out there…..just ask David’s!

Great Family Place by Amanda Sargent (1 review) June 17, 2011 – Likes it

I live in MS and we have a Wimpy’s near our home. We eat there weekly and love the burgers, fries and hotdogs!!! My son even likes the chicken sandwich! The people who work there are always nice and friendly. My cousin lives in Vilonia and went to the one in Conway on my recommendation and her family loved it too!!! Great family place and a good place to take a group of kids. I love the kids menu!!!

AMAZING!!! We love eating at Wimpy’s!! There are so many wonderful things to eat, and there is nothing we’ve tried that we haven’t liked!! GREAT new place to eat!

Definitely worth it! by AP (1 review)June 15, 2011 – Likes it

Wimpy’s is a great burger option in Conway. I’ve always found it to be fresh and tasty. There are many options of toppings for the burgers, which I appreciate. The sweet potato fries are delicious. The service has always been very friendly. Other reviewers have mentioned some issues they had here and I did notice a few of those things when they first opened, but I think they have worked very hard to correct those areas. No restaurant gets off the ground without a few kinks but my last several visits have been excellent.

Chicken and rings by Falissa (2 reviews) June 01, 2011 – Likes it

Wimpy’s is awesome. by Nick Nadboralski (1 review) May 25, 2011 – Likes it

Wimpy’s has lots of competition in the area, but, it’s really worth it. It did take me a few trips to cement it’s place as the best Burger place in town and I could spend a long while comparing the options available, but, I digress. My first visit was just last Sunday, and I came back Monday with my co-workers from HP and Tuesday I returned with another friend. Everything’s all good if you get a great burger once, but, a place prooves itself when it makes you want to come back for more and share it with your friends. The burgers are amazing. My favorite so far is the Triple Wimpy with Pickles, Lettuce, Tomato, Grilled Onions, Grilled Mushrooms, Ketchup, Mustard, Bacon and Cheese. Everything just comes together nicely, it’s only flaw is that it’s a ginormous burger. It can be a challenge to take a bite out of.The toppings on the burgers are all fresh and taste great. It’s rare to see crisp lettuce and tomatos on sandwiches. But, nothing but the best each of my visits to Wimpy’s and I expect nothing less. The shakes are something in a league of their own. Simply the best. Creamy delicious in a cup.The customer service is great and the staff is enjoyable, every time I’ve been there so far everyone has a smile on their face and there’s always someone coming to check on how things are and they acknowledge and appreciate feedback.Today was my 4th day in a row eating there and I’m still eager to return and explore more of their menu.

Phone mobile review by Andrew Richmond (1 review) April 28, 2011 – Likes it

My first impression walking in was good. The inside decor is pretty cool. The girl at the front that took my order was VERY friendly! I ate with 3 friends. One ordered chicken wings and she gave them a 7 out of 10. Another friend had a kids burger with American cheese and fries…he said he liked it. I had a wimpys signature double burger with cheddar cheese, mayo, lettuce, tomato, and red onion…it was good! I had fries too and they were great. Me and another friend had the raspberry milkshakes and they were very good as well. I would definitly go back. I’m gonna try David’s burgers soon as well so i’ll be better able to compare the two. All in all…I LIKED IT. Great place close to the ballpark to eat at after softball with some friends.

The Best by Dan Decker (1 review) April 27, 2011

Wimpy’s is top-notch all around.Excellent menu. The burgers are made fresh with an abundant choice of toppings. I have also had the pleasure to try the Philly Beef. Served on the same bun as the burgers, it’s a welcome take on a meat-eater’s classic sandwich.Sweet-tater fries? Yes, please. With a side of praline dipping sauce. Delish. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and prompt. Bringing your fresh made-to-order goodness right to you. I think I’m going back there today, I’m hungry all of a sudden ;-)

Congratulations to Daniel Fields!!!
